WATCH OUR VIDEO BELOW

WHEN GOOD THINGS COME TOGETHER SOMETHING EXCEPTIONAL HAPPENS. IT’S A FUSION OF LEGACY AND PLACE, CONNECTION AND COMMITMENT, A GENUINE SPIRIT OF GUARDIANSHIP AND INTEGRITY – AND IT’S ALL RIGHT HERE IN NEW ZEALAND FARMED VENISON AND VELVET.

NATURE’S
SUPERPOWER

NATURALLY FARMED

IT BEGAN IN THE 1800’S WHEN DEER FROM ENGLAND AND SCOTLAND WERE INTRODUCED TO OUR WIDE-OPEN SPACES AND THRIVED IN THEIR NEW HOME.

We’re a country of pioneers, so in the 1970’s a group of ‘never say it can’t be done’ adventurers, led the world in finding a way to naturally farm deer, supporting the animal’s behaviours and instincts. New Zealand farmed venison and velvet was born.

RAISED IN PURE
PARADISE

New Zealand’s majestic high country, rolling hills and rich, green pastures perfectly suit deer with their roaming, grazing way of being.

NEW ZEALAND IS A CLEAN, CARED FOR NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND WE COMMIT THAT SAME LEVEL OF CARE TO THE FARMING OF OUR DEER.

As well as on-farm environmental management, our industry follows strict Codes of Welfare and regulations. We’re proud of our regulated care, but for our farmers, it goes much deeper than that.

THE
ADVENTUROUS
KIWI SPIRIT

When you live in a small and beautiful country at the bottom of the world, it helps to have a pioneering spirit. In the 1970’s, our adventurous farmers led the world in finding a new way to naturally farm deer, supporting the animal’s behaviours and instincts.

THE LARGE-SCALE COMMERCIAL FARMING OF DEER BEGAN IN NEW ZEALAND FOLLOWING THE GRANTING OF THE FIRST DEER FARMING LICENCE IN 1970.

On 16 December 1966 Goodwin McNutt (left) became the first person to capture a live deer from a helicopter in New Zealand. He is shown here in the 1950s with hunting companions.

THIS WAS THE BEGINNING OF AN INNOVATIVE NEW INDUSTRY, FOCUSED ON ANIMAL WELFARE, CARE FOR THE LAND AND KAITIAKITANGA (GUARDIANSHIP AND PROTECTION), PRODUCING CONSISTENT, PREMIUM QUALITY VENISON AND VELVET TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD.

THE LEGACY OF THOSE EARLY ADVENTURERS AND FARMING PIONEERS HAS SEEN OUR DEER INDUSTRY GROW AND STRENGTHEN. OUR NATURALLY FARMED VENISON AND VELVET SETS THE BENCHMARK AND ARE HIGHLY PRIZED AROUND THE WORLD.
