OUR DEER GRAZE IN THE HILL COUNTRY AND LOWLAND PASTURES ON GRASS, CLOVER AND HERBS.

 In winter they mix it up with turnips, kale and conserved pasture. Animal welfare is key, with low stress environments and high levels of care.

As well as on-farm environmental management, our industry follows strict Codes of Welfare and regulations. Our farmers are compliant with deer industry quality assurance requirements and standards, and our processors follow industry agreed standards.

STRICT STANDARDS FOR VELVET

The velveting process is undertaken by certified specialists in a highly regulated environment, with minimum distress for the deer. And as a highly prized therapeutic product, New Zealand velvet is subject to a government certification process ensuring all food safety standards are met. Additionally, our velvet is tracked and traced all the way, from our farms through to the markets.
